Teen Advisor: 20 hours per month (roughly 5 hours per week)

Hybrid set-up, but must conduct board meetings, events, and some 1:1 meetings in-person.

Programming:

  • Build (as needed) and support the Youth Board/organizing committee.
  • Plan and implement Beth El youth events for 8th through 12th grade
    • Youth Group – 1-2 times per month, including social events, community service opportunities, and some holiday programming (i.e. Sushi in the Sukkah, Purim Carnival, Breakfast Run, Shabbat dinner with the rabbis, etc.).
    • Youth Board– 1 time per month to develop programs and leadership skills, plus intermittent follow-up as needed.
  • Request and/or prepare all supplies, logistics requests, food orders, etc. in a timely manner for all events.

Communication:

  • Communicate with teens, parents, colleagues and supervisor regularly and respond promptly to all communications.
  • Collaborate to strategically plan mass emails and even marketing.
  • Meet with prospective and current active teens and families to build relationships.
  • Write bimonthly bulletin articles, highlighting Teen programming.
  • Meet regularly with the Director of Youth & Family Engagement (weekly/biweekly) to discuss past and upcoming events, challenges, relationship building, etc.

Administration:

  • Develop and manage the Teen calendar for teens to engage in Jewish social events and community service at Beth El.
  • Manage the budget for programming, 8th through 12th grade, and assist in crafting the budget for the following year. This includes tracking expenses and income.

Outreach, Community Relations, and Synagogue Growth:

  • Serve as an ambassador for the synagogue within the Westchester community.
  • Enhance the reputation of the Synagogue.
  • Enhance the positive image of the Department of Youth and Family Engagement through interactions with parents, teachings, congregants, and community organizations.

Compensation: Salary range of $6200-$7000, depending on experience. This person is paid biweekly from September through June.
