De-Sexualizing the Women of Shushan

March 12, 2017 @ 11:00 am - 12:30 pm

Join your friends for a Purim Seudah (meal) like no other! We will eat, drink, and be merry – while discussing the importance of intersectional feminism as it relates to our lives today to our female Purim heroes.

On Purim, we celebrate Esther, a strong female character in the Jewish tradition. But where are the female voices that were not focused on in the story? What critical narratives are we missing from promiscuous voices such as Vashti’s, of the other diverse women Esther competed with to win the King’s heart?

In typical Ramahnik fashion, we will be diving into ancient and modern texts, media, and news to discuss these issues.

Sign-ups in advance only; entry is $8

Brunch will be served; BYOB.  For more information, please email Naomi Barnett.
