An immersive high school semester abroad committed to strengthening the Jewish and Israel literacy of North American teens is seeking a visionary to oversee the training of staff and social growth of participants while on site Jan-June. Position is full time, allowing for time in the fall to set the vision, hiring, and planning a program of excellence.

This is a rare opportunity for a professional at the top of their game to join a team of experienced Jewish and Israel educators who are passionate about life-changing Jewish and Israel education.

During the summer the director of student life will serve as a “Yoetzet” on Ramah Seminar, a six week summer tour program.

Responsibilities

  • Supervision of Student Life and its Day to Day Operations
    • Meet with students regularly to check in and ensure physical and mental health
    • Develop strategies for success with students, such as time management, group workshops, etc.
    • Together with Madrichim, design and run programming (social, religious, student leadership)
    • Calendar and daily programming
    • Meet and advise students in areas of social life, discipline and mental health
  • Supervision of Hadracha
    • Recruit, hire, train, support and supervise Madrichim
  • Oversee the mental and physical health of students
    • medication distribution
    • Manage appointments with mental and physical health professionals
    • Coordinate and communicate with parents/guardians and staff as necessary

Required Skills

  • Degree or experience in the field of mental health
  • Experience supervising staff; Ability to support, mentor and guide Madrichim and high school students alike
  • Superior analytical, leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of the North American Jewish community
  • Enthusiasm and leadership – nurturing confidence, creativity and follow through in a group setting and informal education
  • Ability to work unconventional hours
  • Hebrew proficiency
  • Summer camp experience or youth movement leadership.
