Director of Development
National Ramah Commission, Inc. of The Jewish Theological Seminary

The National Ramah Commission (NRC) seeks a full-time Director of Development to help further expand NRC’s outreach to individual donors and foundations for the benefit of our existing camps and for the growth of the Ramah camping movement.

  • Develop and execute a fundraising plan for the National Ramah Commission to secure financial support for our camps and to fund movement-wide Ramah projects.
  • Lead a strategic visioning process as well as implement the development plan, working directly with the National Ramah lay and professional leadership to solicit donors.
  • Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with major individual donors and funders, including identification, cultivation, solicitation, negotiation, and stewardship.
  • Collaborate with senior NRC professionals on proposals for new grants. Oversee all reporting and stewardship involved in current NRC grants, as well as applications for renewed funds and solicitation of new grants where appropriate.
  • Supervise staff responsible for data entry, gift processing, and gift acknowledgment.
  • Work closely and cooperatively with the Ramah camps’ development professionals and lead ongoing conversations with this cohort in the areas of professional development, sharing of best practices, and coordination of movement-wide initiatives.

Candidates should have at least five years’ experience in the field of development, including the cultivation and solicitation of gifts and grants, exposure to the full arc of a development campaign from launch to completion, and familiarity with the Jewish foundation world.
