The Organization

Camp Ramah in California was founded in 1956 and creates religious educating communities in which campers and staff learn skills for a life committed to God, Torah, the Jewish people and tikkun olam. Such communities support and strengthen Jewish identity and experiences fostered in the home, the synagogue and the school.

Camp Ramah in California is affiliated with the National Ramah Commission and is under the educational auspices of the Zeigler School of Rabbinic Studies at American Jewish University and works in partnership with institutions of the Conservative movement in the Western United States. The Role

The Development Assistant provides administrative and fundraising support to Camp Ramah’s Development Director and Executive Director, with backup support for the general office. The Development Assistant will use independent judgement to set priorities and adjusting as necessary to assure deadlines and goals are met, provides accurate, timely and effective for all assigned projects.


  • Manage donor date base (Raisers Edge NXT) including:
    • maintaining accurate donor files
    • event registration and payment batching
    • seating
    • reports and analytics
  • Manager donor relations:
    • Provide an excellent experience for donors, our community, and prospective community/camp/donor members
    • Answer all questions with urgency
  • Track and process event sponsorships and tribute ads for event journals
  • Manage vendor relations
  • Support Board of Directors, Development Director, and Executive Director as needed, including:
    • Scheduling meetings & maintaining calendars
    • Reviewing voicemail / email as needed
    • Processing correspondence as needed
    • Handling travel arrangements
    • Filing
  • Provide front desk coverage when necessary including:
    • Handling incoming/outgoing phone calls
    • Set up meetings, phone sessions, and events
    • mail support and other tasks as needed
    • Various other administrative tasks as needed


  • Experience in administrative or Development support
  • Ability to work independently, follow detailed instructions, exercise judgement and to assume responsibility for multiple projects in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Understand the responsibility to maintain confidentiality
  • Extremely organized, detail oriented, highly motivated
  • Excellent written/verbal communication
  • Strong customer service skills and the desire to create excellent customer experiences
  • Ability to attend events outside of business hours when necessary
  • MS Office (Outlook, Microsoft Word, Excel)
  • Donor Data Base experience preferred
  • BA Degree or equivalent experience preferred
