Joel Seltzer and Eliana Katz met in the summer of 1988 when he was just 7, and she 6 . . .The sparks immediately flew! No, not really. In actuality they grew up at Ramah Poconos together, and while she had a crush on him in the summer of 1993, and he had a crush on her in the summer of 1996, they became a couple while on staff together in the summer of 2000 (though Joel had been trying to convince her long before that!)
They were Gesher counselors together in the summer of 2001, and were on Hanhallah together as Rashei Eidah during the summers of 2003 and 2004.
Their hiatus from working at camp ended during the summer of 2012, when Joel, now Rabbi Joel Seltzer became the director of Camp Ramah in the Poconos. They cherish the fact that their three daughters, Ayelet, Talia, and Noa, and the family dog Abe, are now all enjoying summers together at their home away from home, Camp Ramah in the Poconos.
