Executive Associate, Israel & International Affairs

 

The Executive Associate is a critical member of the Jewish Community Relations Council of New York’s Commission on Israel & International Affairs and is responsible for assisting with logistics, administration, program coordination, and the development of resources and materials for all departmental and several agency-wide activities.

The JCRC-NY Commission on Israel & International Affairs is a key resource for the pro-Israel communities of New York.  It strives to positively impact the attitudes of New Yorkers towards the State of Israel and its people by:

(1)    Developing relationships with and acting as a key resource to public officials, diplomats, communal/ethnic/faith leaders, academicians, and others in advancing Israel’s cause;

(2)    Acting as a rapid-response unit on issues of concern to the Jewish community in the global community and combating local efforts to delegitimize Israel;

(3)    Leading fact-finding missions to Israel for public officials, opinion makers, and ethnic and faith leaders;

(4)    Producing the annual Celebrate Israel Parade, the world’s largest public event in support of Israel, with over 40,000 marchers and tens of thousands of spectators.

The Executive Associate, Israel & International Affairs is a full-time (40 hours per week) position which requires working some evenings and weekends (Sundays).  This position reports to the Director, Israel and International Affairs and assists all commission staff as necessary.  Responsibilities of the Executive Associate will include, but are not limited to the following:

 

·         Assist in the coordination of all Israel-related activities and events, including but not limited to: high level briefings, conference calls/webinars, digital activism for Israel, and combating the local efforts to delegitimize Israel

·         Conduct outreach and communicate effectively with influential leaders within and outside the Jewish community in the New York area, including clergy, executives, elected and public officials, and their staffs

·         Assist in implementing local advocacy campaigns on issues of concern to the Jewish community in the international affairs arena

·         Assist with all logistical aspects of missions to Israel, including outreach, insurance, itineraries, rosters, and pre- and post-mission data collection

·         Ensure that all administrative tasks are taken care of in a timely, accurate, and professional manner, and that records are kept up-to-date

·         Generate relevant Israel content to create mission alumni newsletter and google groups

·         Regularly provide content for use in updating the JCRC-NY website, Celebrate Israel Parade website, and social media platforms (Facebook & Twitter)

·         Work with the Director of the Faculty Engagement Program to aid in recruitment and planning for on-campus events, courses, and missions to Israel

·         Assist Celebrate Israel Parade Staff in all matters, including:

  • o   Drafting solicitation letters, managing general contributions for Parade production, and timely distribution of charitable donation receipts to all donors
  • o   Completing and submitting all necessary government permits to the proper authorities prior to their stated deadlines
  • o   Conduct outreach to rabbis, community leaders, public figures, and elected officials
  • o   Recruit, coordinate activities and lead orientation for Parade day volunteers
  • o   Manage distribution of VIP tickets to organizational affiliates and contributors
  • o   Assist in managing Parade Float and Sponsorship registration and payment
  • o   Supervise all activities of 1-2 Parade interns
  • o   Work with a variety of vendors for all Israel-related activities and event, tracking expenses and ensuring quantity and quality of product and services
  • o   Contribute Parade-related content to the Celebrate Israel website

·         Support grant-writing for all projects within the Commission on Israel and International Affairs

·         Completing additional tasks as necessary

Qualified candidates must have:

 

·         Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills

·         Significant attention to detail and accuracy, with an ability to manage multiple and competing priorities simultaneously

·         Knowledge of current affairs concerning Israel and global Jewish affairs

·         A strong capacity with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint applications and Google-Suite (mail, drive, docs, calendar, and sheets)

·         Goal-oriented, organized and strategic thinker

·         Ability to coordinate scheduling and meetings

·         Bachelor’s degree required

·         Familiarity with the Tri-state area Jewish Community a plus

·         Ability to work with graphics and familiarity with HTML, Publisher, Illustrator, Photoshop and Adobe Acrobat a plus

·         Previous experience interning in a Jewish or other non-profit organization a plus
