Immediate Teaching Positions Available, Oct 2020: 

  • 2nd/3rd Grade Team Co-Teacher  (Paternity Leave)
  • K/1 Assistant Teacher (full time)
  • 2/3 and 4/5 Support Teachers (part-time)
  • Substitute Teachers, K-8  (per diem)

Student-centered Manhattan Jewish Day school with a strong culture of faculty reflection, collaboration, and professional growth, is looking for thoughtful educators to a) fill a paternity leave position (Nov-January), b) join a K/1 team as an assistant, c) support the elementary school team in different classroom task and responsibilities, and d) join our roster of substitute teachers for the school year.  

The school runs a dual Judaic-General Studies curriculum. Elementary teachers require relative fluency in Hebrew.  Co-teachers in elementary school are responsible to share the responsibilities of teaching both Jewish AND General Studies.  Teachers in middle school are responsible for their own classroom and subject matter but support students as part of a team. 

Experience/Background:

2nd/3rd Grade Paternity Leave position (full-time)

  • At least 2 years of classroom teaching required
  • BA, EdM, or MA in education preferred
  • Training in, and/or experience with, teaching early elementary-aged students required
  • Familiarity with modern Hebrew required
  • Interest and willingness to work in a highly collaborative environment

K/1 Assistant Teacher position (full-time): 

  • Experience working with young children in informal and/or formal education required; 
  • 1-2 year of classroom teaching preferred
  • BA, EdM, or MA in education preferred
  • Familiarity with modern Hebrew required
  • Interest and willingness to work in a highly collaborative environment

2/3 and 4/5 Support Teachers (part-time)

  • Experience working with children in informal and/or formal education strongly preferred
  • An interest in learning about education, school and working with students
  • Interest and willingness to work in a highly collaborative environment

Substitute positions (per diem):  

  • Training in, and/or experience with, children/students/education required. 
  • Skills and experience in the Jewish community helpful.
  • Interest and willingness to work in a highly collaborative environment
